Make Your Next Round Count with the Legacy Tap
Say thanks to the veterans who have given so much by donating to the Legacy Tap. By shouting a ‘beer’ for a fallen veteran, the funds go directly to Legacy ...
On Friday 15 November, Sydney Legacy held its annual Remembrance Day Lunch at NSW Parliament in the Strangers’ Room. The event was an opportunity for the Legacy family and the wider community to pay their respects to the fallen and remember their families.
Sydney President Legatee Ian Thompson opened the lunch with an address about the impact of Legacy’s work. Moving speeches were given by former Legacy Junior Rhys Cassidy and Veteran Family Advocate Commissioner Gwen Cherne. A delicious two-course meal was enjoyed by all.
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all who attended or donated to the event. The funds raised on the day will enable Legacy to continue caring for veterans’ families, providing social, financial and emotional support.
A special thank you to Defence Housing Australia for sponsoring the Remembrance Day Lunch.
Our appreciation also goes to Colonel Warwick Young CSC, OAM for acting as MC and Shayne Harris as auctioneer. Thank you to the Australian Army Band – Sydney for providing musical entertainment.
We would also like to acknowledge the generosity of the Royal Australian Navy, the Royal Australian Air Force, Toll and other businesses that donated items for the silent and live auction. Finally, a thank you to Winmark Wines for kindly gifting the raffle prizes.
We hope to see everyone again next year.
If you could not attend the Sydney Remembrance Day Lunch but would like to show your support for veterans’ families, consider making a donation. Give back to the families of those who have given so much.
