The Legacy Torch burned bright on the NSW Mid North Coast as part of The Legacy Centenary Torch Relay which touched down in NSW at the end of June.

The Port Macquarie community welcomed the Legacy flame with the relay starting at Port Macquarie Marina. The flame was carried by 18 torch bearers over a 5km route before concluding at Town Green.

Next up was Taree and Forster. The Taree leg started at the Taree Aquatic Centre before heading to the Forster War Memorial and concluding at Lone Pine Memorial Park, Tuncurry.

Our oldest torch bearer 102-year-old Mavis Patterson was the final torch bearer for the Forster leg and had the honour of lighting the cauldron.

A huge thank you to all of our torch bearers for making the relays a day to remember.

Next stop… Maitland.
