The Legacy Centenary Torch Relay has arrived in Brisbane as it continues to head down the east coast of Australia.

The relay commenced at Government House where our first torch bearers were joint patrons of Legacy Brisbane, Her Excellency the Hon. Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM, Governor of Queensland and Professor Graeme Nimmo RFD.

The Torch then travelled through significant sites of Brisbane including Suncorp Stadium, Vitoria Barrack, William Jolly Bridge and Goodwill Bridge before concluding at Brisbane City Hall where Lord Mayor of Brisbane, Adrian Schrinner lit the cauldron to mark the end of the relay.

We would like to thank all of our torch bearers for making it a day to remember including Olympian Alicia Coutts, Rugby League Legend Wally Lewis, Nine Newsreader Andrew Lofthouse, Major General Jake Ellwood and Major General Stuart Smith.

In addition to our relay, we were able to get the Torch exclusive access to Brisbane’s Legacy Way Tunnel during a routine maintenance closure. The Legacy flame sure burned bright in its namesake tunnel.

The Legacy Way Tunnel helps to support the families of our veterans with one cent from every motorist’s toll being donated to Legacy. We would like to thank Transurban and Brisbane City Council for their support, as over $700 000 has been donated since the tunnel opened in 2015.

Help us continue to support our veterans’ families for the next 100 years by visiting https://lnkd.in/gWZAcDvP
