Legacy WA would like to thank Leanne for her commitment and invaluable service. With a distinguished career spanning three decades in the legal industry, Leanne has brought her professional expertise to the organisation and made profound personal contributions to Legacy WA, ensuring that the families of veterans receive the support they need and deserve. Her dedication exemplifies the spirit of Legacy WA and inspires others within the community.
Leanne has over 30 years of experience in the legal industry. She has a strong background as a Senior Paralegal specialising in workers’ compensation, medical negligence, and liquor licensing. Her career has also extended into middle management, focused on HR and quality assurance. Leanne also holds counselling qualifications, particularly in grief and loss and associated case management.
After her partner Frank Piggott passed away in 2017, Leanne experienced first-hand the role Legacy WA plays in supporting its beneficiaries, which inspired her to become a Legatee in 2018. Since then, she has been an active and influential member of the Legacy WA community, making significant contributions as a Family Advisor and in areas such as strategic planning and organisational change at the Board level.
“During my tenure on the Board, I’ve had the privilege to represent Legacy WA and honour those who have served and their families, while at the same time helping amplify the importance of the support that Legacy provides. As a non-profit charitable organisation, Legacy faces its unique challenges with a reliance on donations, fundraising and grants to carry out its work. Having a solid understanding of governance and compliance obligations is critical, as well as having a diverse range of skills, experience, and business acumen that will support the continued development and implementation of our Strategic Plan.
As I step back, I am excited to welcome new members to the Board who will bring fresh perspectives, new energy, and complementary skills that will help us to be sustainable long into the future, ensuring we continue to fulfill our promise to support the families of our veterans.”
