Coffs Coast Legacy

Coffs Coast Legacy - Legacy

Legacy is a charity providing services to Australian families suffering financially and socially after the incapacitation or death of a spouse or parent, during or after their defence force service. At Coffs Coast Legacy we currently care for more than 450 beneficiaries. This includes widows, special needs dependants, Junior Legatees and families of veterans who have given their health. Nationally Legacy cares for dependants of the 60,000 widow(er)s and 1,800 children and disabled dependants throughout Australia.

Legacy is dedicated to enhancing the lives and opportunities of our families through innovative and practical programs aimed at:

  • the protection of individuals and families basic needs;
  • advocating for their entitlements, rights and benefits;
  • assisting families through bereavement; and
  • helping people thrive, despite their adversity and loss.

How can you Help?

There are so many ways you can get involved and have a positive impact on families of veterans who have given their health or life. You can do it your way – a monetary donation, or a donation of your time by becoming a Legatee or Friend of Legacy. We appreciate your support in whatever form it comes.

Legatees

The dedicated men and women who provide the care and assistance Legacy is known for are called Legatees. Historically, Legatees were returned service men and women, but today Legacy welcomes membership from all people who share our ideals and values. A Legatee is a volunteer who makes a personal commitment to assist the families of those who have served our country.

Legatees are the backbone of Coffs Coast Legacy and deliver many of our services, including regular contact with the families of our deceased or incapacitated servicemen and women.

Friends of Legacy

Friends of Legacy has been established for those wishing to assist Legacy without becoming a Legatee. Friends of Legacy may assist by volunteering in so many ways, including assisting on Badge Week.

Legacy Week 2019

You will have the chance to support Coffs Coast Legacy during Legacy Week – Sunday 1 September to Saturday 7 September 2019 – by purchasing an item or making a donation at one of our merchandise stalls across the region. All funds raised will support our local families. Legacy Week is Australia’s iconic fundraising campaign which began in 1942. It is also known for its Badge Day and the iconic badges offered as a token of appreciation for the donation made by the public. Badge Day is Friday 6 September 2019.

We look forward to your support in 2019 – Thank you.
