Events - Ballarat Legacy

Ballarat Legacy runs several events during the year to raise funds for Legacy’s work and awareness of Legacy. These include:

Legacy Week

Since 1926 Ballarat Legacy has kept their promise to look after the families of deceased veterans. Buy a badge during Legacy Week and together we can keep the promise. Donate at any Commonwealth Bank branch, call 1800 534 229 or visit; legacy.com.au.

Legacy Week is also a busy time for us and any assistance from the local community is greatly appreciated. Volunteers to help with this fundraising task are encouraged to contact the Ballarat Legacy office on (03) 5331 3242.
The 2016 Legacy Week was strongly supported by our local community, for which the Club is very grateful. It is important to note that all funds raised locally are spent locally on the welfare of our beneficiaries.

Social Activities

An annual function is held for Legatees and their partners, usually towards the end of the year.

Ballarat Legacy is currently compiling a register of former Junior Legatees, with a view to holding regular functions for them to reconnect with Legacy.

Ballarat Legacy Annual Changeover and Luncheon is scheduled for 21st May 2017 at the Ballarat Golf Club function room, commencing at 12 Noon for 12:30 seating.
Legatee Howard Gibbon is to be installed as President for the year 2017/18.

For several years now, Ballarat Legacy has conducted a camp for Junior legatees and their mums from around Victoria, as well as interstate. What started as a weekend, has now grown into a five day camp over the first weekend in January and enjoyed by a number of families who have forged a strong support network and developed friendships.

Legacy Junior Public Speaking Award

Ballarat Region Legacy Junior Public Speaking Award is held each year in August.
Ballarat Legacy has strongly supported the LJPSA in our region since 1992, with a large number of speakers going on to reach the State Final.

This event is for students between the ages of 12 to 14 years. Entry is free and the public are encouraged to attend and hear these talented students speak.

In 2009, Ballarat & Clarendon College student Gretel Hayden won the State Final and then went on to win the National Title.
In 2011, Matthew Hall from Ballarat Grammar also won the State and National Titles.
In 2014 Laura Benney from Ballarat High School won the Victorian Title.
Ballarat Legacy is proud to have these wonderful young speakers represent our Club.
