Ararat Legacy

Being the 10th Club to be formed, Ararat Legacy was created through the auspice of Ballarat Legacy on the 28th September, 1929.

Ararat Legacy

Ararat Legacy is dedicated to caring for the families of fallen or seriously injured veterans.

Ararat Legacy today has twenty four active legatees from the areas of Ararat, Avoca, Beaufort, Stawell and Willaura, looking after over 100 war widows.

Legacy’s role, as it was in 1929 is the same today; the care, guidance and encouragement of the families of those servicemen and servicewomen, who through death because of their service, are no longer there to give those benefits.

Become part of a proud tradition

Brian

Being a Legatee is the most rewarding endeavour of my life. It makes me proud of my country when I see the enthusiasm and compassion volunteers bring to their roles as Legatees. I also see just how much enjoyment and fulfilment they get out of it.

Terry was a Communications-Electronics Technician with the 462 Squadron when he was deployed to Iraq in 2016. He was later evacuated with a life-changing injury. The Terry who came back … was a different person to the Terry who left.
