Retiring with the rank of Group Captain, Carl Schiller served 46 years in the Royal Australian Air Force and saw Active Service in the Vietnam War with No 2 Squadron at Phan Rang in 1969. His air force service was in two periods divided by a period of full-time university studies and employment as a Secondary Teacher specialising in accountancy and economics.

Carl was decorated in the Australia Day Honours List in 2003 and in 2014 for his work on developing Air Force integrated workforce capability.  He completed his service as the Deputy Director-General Air Force Reserves.

Carl is the Chair of the Macedon Ranges Group of Bendigo Legacy.  He has served 10 years in Legacy, half of which as the Chair of Macedon Ranges Legacy.

He is a past president and chair of Air Force Association Victoria Pty Ltd, and Immediate Past National President and Chair of Air Force Association Limited.  He is a Trustee of the RAAF Veterans’ Residences Trust, Patron of B24 Liberator Restoration Australia, and Military Patron of the Craigieburn War Memorial.

Carl’s interests include gardening, cycling, and his three dogs.  Carl and his wife Christine, reside in Sunbury, Victoria.
