Legacy restored fun into my life - Legacy

My Father died in 1951 after nine years of suffering. I was the second eldest and only 7. I wanted to believe that he had just gone back to Heidelberg Repat. Hospital and would return to us but he was gone and so was our happiness as a family. My earliest memory of Legacy is going to Government House Victoria just before Christmas when I was 4 or 5 years old and receiving gifts and eating ice cream until I could eat no more then visiting my father in hospital.

Then I was saved mentally from the time I was 7 - 13 because I was invited to enjoy many holidays with wonderful people. I went to the beach, and experienced boating at Lakes Entrance with the Bull Family; then to the country home near Barnsdale with the elderly Clark couple where I enjoyed milking cows plus eating real cream - a pure luxury. However the best holidays were in Kew in Blainey House, a huge mansion, and I went to heaven every time I stayed there because there were daily exciting outings and books to read at night after delicious food. We children needed a break from our forever grieving mother as much as she needed a few weeks away from her four fatherless out of control children aged from 3 to 8. I will never forget those much needed holidays.
