About us - Perth Legacy

Club History

For over 90 years, LEGACY AUSTRALIA has dedicated itself to the welfare and support of the widows and children of deceased war veterans, and is pledged to continue this vital role well into this century.
Since its inception in Western Australia on 9 June 1928, PERTH LEGACY and a sister club in WA, FREMANTLE LEGACY, have continuously served the Legacy family, consisting of dependants of deceased veterans from both World Wars, Korea, Malaya, Borneo, Vietnam, the Gulf, those sent on all peacekeeping operations and more recently those resulting from Australia’s role in the War Against Terror.
LEGACY has expanded its scope of welfare support to cover the dependants of Australian Defence Force members, both regular and reserve, killed on hazardous service or training for war, and on humanitarian missions.
PERTH AND FREMANTLE LEGACY currently have registered more than 6,000 widows and widowers, as well as 80 children, students and disabled dependants. With current enrolments averaging 10 every week, the work of LEGACY is by no means finished, and will continue for many decades to come.
